Loxley Contributes to a Greener Society by Upcycling Food Waste into Organic Fertilizer

Food Waste Management Project

According to waste statistics in the Khlong Toei District Office area, a total of 96,264.39 tons of solid waste was generated in 20231. As one of the operators in the Khlong Toei area, Loxley has volunteered to help manage solid waste by encouraging its employees across the Loxley Group to separate food waste, recyclable waste, and electronic waste to minimize the amount of landfill waste. Additionally, Loxley is seriously addressing the food waste problem by reducing food waste at the source. This starts with raising employee awareness to take or buy only the amount of food they can consume. Following this, food waste is separated and sent to a food waste disposer that uses microorganisms to decompose the waste into high-quality organic fertilizer within 24 hours.

This project is carried out in collaboration with Oaklin (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a partner specializing in food waste management, who acts as a mentor in designing the waste management process for each type of waste. They also provide training on waste separation for employees of Loxley and its affiliated companies, food vendors operating in the Company’s canteen, as well as the cleaning staff managed by Loxley Property Development Co., Ltd., which oversees facility services. The initiative aims to build a sustainable organizational culture and includes plans to extend the program by sharing knowledge about waste separation and organic fertilizer production with local schools and surrounding communities. This effort supports the development of Khlong Toei district into a greener, cleaner, safer, and more livable society.
